Background: From the Guji region of Ethiopia, this coffee is hand picked by small holders who send their offerings to the Danbi Udo mill. In the Guji zone’s volcanic soil, many small farmers intersperse coffee shrubs with other crops such avocados or legumes--practicing a traditionally sustainable method of agriculture. At the mill the coffee is processed and sorted for quality. This particular coffee was graded G2 (Ethiopian coffees are graded for quality on a scale of 1-9, with grades 1 and 2 indicating the best coffees).
